I know it's been a while since I've written. I apologize for that. I was waiting for the pictures to arrive from our professional photographers. Then, our American vow renewal happened (more to come on that), and then arrived the holidays. Now, there are no more excuses. Below you will see some of my favorite pictures from the Italian wedding, which took place in Ischia, a small island off the coast of Naples, on Oct. 2, 2008. When the bride leaves her house (in my case, my aunt's home in Testaccio... Read More... |

Congratulations to all the newly engaged brides to be!! Maybe you're still basking in the glow of your beautiful ring and feeling the joy of having found "the right one." And maybe you're wondering where to start with your planning. Here are a list of things to do that will help make the process easier...1. Together with your fiance, decide what kind of a wedding you want and where it's going to be. Are you the traditional type that wants a church wedding with all the trimmings? An outdoor girl... Wedding planning followed by wedding bliss and a bad case of jet lag has prevented me from writing much on this site over the last few weeks. I was in Italy, joined by at least a few relatives and friends from the States, for my wedding celebration. It went off without a hitch. We had a beautiful day. We're hoping to recapture the joy and repeat it at our vow renewal for my family and friends in the States in November. In the meantime, here are some photos of our wedding that might provide some... While in the midst of wedding planning, I, like many of you now, found myself frequenting many message boards to get inspiration and discuss planning with other brides, etc. The thing that I found the most surprising was the debate as to whether or not each bride was going to be hiring a videographer for their wedding day. Personally, hiring a videographer was never a question for me so I found it interesting that the debate was not which videographer each bride was going to hire but if they would... Read More... |

The word “trial” is a very common term used by most brides while planning their wedding. Many brides go through one or more hair and/or makeup trials to ensure that their bridal-look is perfect. I think it’s a great idea and, I myself, had two hair trials and one makeup trial before I walked down the aisle. The benefit of a hair and/or makeup trial not only gives you peace of mind knowing how you will look when you marry, but will also speed up the day-of preparations because... Read More... |

When a bride dreams about her wedding day one of the most important moments that she thinks about is that walk down the aisle. For some brides, this moment includes the processional music of which the most popular (and most recognized) pieces of music which is Bridal Chorus from Lohengrin’, by Richard Wagner (also known as: Here Comes The Bride.) A close second to this piece is Canon in D Major by Johann Pachalbel. However, you may be a bride who doesn’t want her wedding processional... Read More... |

A few weeks ago, I wrote an article about how creating a unique wedding is an open field, completely free to mold and plan to your liking. After this blog was posted, a comment was made that I couldn’t forget: “I agree with you that the field is open--everything and anything is an option...but there is definitely a down side to this: namely the pressure a bride feels to make her wedding unique and special...do you agree?” ElizabethEven if this wasn’t the exact feeling of... As of this morning, I'm Signora Gerenini (even though I don't actually have to change my name because Italian brides don't do that). In Italy, you must legally wed in the municipal building a few months ahead of your church wedding for it to hold weight with the government. Today, my groom, Antonio Gerenini, and I signed on the dotted line in Ischia Porto, Italy and were legally married. I thought you might enjoy a first look at the first pages of what will be our wedding photo album --Antonio and... Read More... |

I'm still in Ischia, Italy planning my October 2 wedding. It is blistering hot and the wedding planning is getting to everyone. Today, I am actually on the other side of the island visiting some relatives. They are napping after a nice big meal of spaghetti, and I am trying to get some work done on their computer because my laptop is giving me some trouble. The good news is that I am very close to being legally married. This is a big deal. As an American marrying an Italian in Italy, I had to jump... Read More... |
